Speedy WiFi In Your Office

Speedy WiFi In Your Office

Why is fast WiFi so important?

Businesses are relying on fast and reliable WiFi more than ever in recent years. With the ease and convenience of being able to freely move around your work premises, accessing the internet regardless of your location, you can really see why businesses are obsessed with having superb WiFi speeds. Having slow WiFi, on the other hand, is almost as bad as having no connection at all! So, if you are having some issues with your WiFi in your office, there are some things that you can try to rectify the situation as quickly as possible.

4 Ways To Improve WiFi Speed:

1 – Location of the router – One of the main factors that affect your office WiFi speed is all down to where your WiFi router is stored. To attempt speeding up your WiFi, move your router so that it sits in a more centralised location for the best possible results. This is because as you move further away from the router, you will naturally experience slower speeds. If your office has multiple floors, but you only have one router, then you need to make sure that the router is as high up on the wall as possible. This is so that people on the floors above have the best chance of a strong connection.

2 – Too many people – Another high cause of slow WiFi in an office is having too many people connected at any one time. This could be because your WiFi is open to the public and other people in the building are using it, FREE OF CHARGE! To resolve this, ensure your network is password protected with a strong password that nobody will easily crack. This way, only the people who you give the password to can access and use the WiFi.

3 – Signal boosters – In some cases, your office may just be too large for all of your employees to receive a strong connection across the entire building with only standard hardware. As a result, you could invest in a few WiFi signal boosters, to reach the areas which don’t receive as strong of a connection as others. Alternatively, you could do with some help from an expert!

4 – Bandwidth-intensive activities – Finally, bandwidth-intensive activities performed during the day can certainly contribute to slow networks. For the best results, save all automatic back-ups and similar activities for night time, after employees have gone home.

If you are experiencing slow WiFi in your office, it is in your own best interest to correct the issue as quickly as possible. Not only will your employees ultimately be happier, but they’ll be provided with the tools necessary to be as productive as possible regardless of their location.
